Walking at the River Park

Let’s go for a walk, my husband said one sunny afternoon. He had found a new place to promenade on. Although Ningbo is a lovely city, because it is a rapidly growing area, it is hard to find a nice place to walk. One always finds oneself in the middle of a dusty, smelly construction site, especially here in Yinzhou. So I was all exited to find a nice riverside walking path just over the bridge.

I really enjoyed walking in that nice and clean, beautifully detailed river park area. I was also really happy find that place so near to our apartment. The other side of the river – that we’d explored earlier – is still in the middle of construction and is not a nice place to walk yet.  I wonder if the Youngor Textile Group has anything to do with that nice garden style area just around it’s buildings.

We were heading to Tesco, a western style supermarket Niko had just found couple of kilometers from us.  On the way there, we walked through a housing area, hmmm, not like ours.

Laundry day by the river

The pictures may be deceiving. I am, myself, enjoying these colorful pictures now here on my comfy sofa. But believe me, this was just shabby, not at all chic… The public toilets smelling, the garbage on the streets, the laundry hanging on everything, the poverty everywhere we looked. And the looks we got back were not always friendly or curious. Needless to say we didn’t really stop for a photo session, these are truly hasty snapshots.

We still enjoyed the lively market by the bridge, with vegetable vendors, ladies knitting and repairing shoes etc.
